“The train carries tourists from Germany, Australia, Russia, the US, Malaysia, Italy, and Singapore,” said the Head of Fars Provincial Railways Organization Gholam-Hossein Valadi in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
“Tourists are to visit historical monuments, including Pasargad, Naqsh-e Rostam and Persepolis, located in Fars Province,” Valadi added.
“They also enjoy visiting historical places of the province’s capital city of Shiraz like tombs of renowned poets of the city Hafez and Saadi as well as Arg-e Karim Khan,” he added.
The tourists will depart for Iranian central city of Esfahan Sunday evening.
The current Heart of Persia journey started on October 7 and is planned to conclude on October 24.
“A total of 17 journeys to Iran have been conducted by the Golden Eagle tourist train since 2013, including three journeys, in the current Iranian year (beginning on March 21),” said the director general of the company organizing the tour.
“Iran will also host three more journeys by the end of the current Iranian year,” he added.
Golden Eagle is a luxury Russian tourist train that travels to many countries, including three journeys to Iran, including ‘Persian Oddyssey’, ‘Heart of Persia’, and ‘Perisa & Silk road’.
The train carried 261 tourists from around the world to Iran last year through four journeys to visit Iranian historical monuments and cities.
The ‘Heart of Persia’ journey visits Iranian cities Tehran, Mashad, Rayen, Mahan, Kerman, Yazd, Shiraz, Persepolis, Isfahan, Kashan, Shushtar, Choghazanbil, and Pol-e Sefid.
